To Show We Care

Age & Dementia Cape Ann (ADFCA) has developed a new collaboration with To Show We Care, a local non-profit, to offer free theater tickets to people living with dementia and/or their caregivers. Through this collaboration, local area caregivers were recently able to see a performance of A Christmas Carol.

To Show We Care is a non-profit organization who for many years has been providing free theater tickets to the North Shore Music Theater to people living with a cancer diagnosis. Through a collaboration with ADFCA and SeniorCare Inc.’s Caregiver Support Program, they have recently expanded the program to include those living with dementia and/or their caregivers.

Caregivers of those living with dementia frequently report experiencing high levels of stress. It can be overwhelming to take care of a loved one with Alzheimer’s or other dementia and too often caregivers forget to take care of themselves as they care for a loved one. Spending time doing something they enjoy, like taking in a theater performance, can offer caregivers a temporary rest from caregiving and help them rebuild their reserves.

ADFCA and To Show We Care anticipates offering additional tickets to shows in the upcoming 2023 Season at the North Shore Music Theater. If you or a loved one are interested in learning more about this program, contact Carrie Johnson at [email protected].
