Healthy Aging Workshop

Alzheimer’s Association, in collaboration with SeniorCare’s Age & Dementia Friendly Connections, presented Healthy Aging for Your Brain & Body. Participants learned about healthy choices they can make as they age.

Participants learned about positive, easy actions they can make that will impact brain health, possibly even lowering the risk of cognitive decline.

  1. Challenging your mind by learning something that is new to you, like a new skill or hobby
  2. Engage in regular exercise to raise your heart rate and increase blood flow to the brain and body
  3. Protecting your head by wearing a helmet for activities like biking or playing sports
  4. Remain smoke-free
  5. Control your blood pressure
  6. Manage diabetes
  7. Eat Right
  8. Maintain a healthy weight
  9. Get good quality sleep

Registered Dietician and SeniorCare Director of Community Programs and Community Planner, Linnea Hagberg presented on healthy diets including the Mind Diet.
